Frequently asked questions
What is Moldonyan Finance?
A free app for personal and family finances: accounts in different currencies, income and expenses, debts and loans, category limits, savings jars, loyalty cards and tickets. It works in the browser, as an Android app and can be installed on a computer.
How much does it cost?
The app is free. The website may show unobtrusive ads that help pay for running the service. There are no ads in the Android app.
Do I need to connect my bank card?
No. The app doesn't connect to banks and never asks for card details. You record transactions yourself — by hand, from a photo of a receipt or with recurring payment templates. Your banking data stays with your bank.
Where is my data stored?
Your records are saved in your account and synced between devices, so nothing is lost if you change phones. We don't sell or share your financial data with third parties. See the privacy policy for details.
Which currencies are supported?
Moldovan leu (MDL), US dollar, euro, Romanian leu and Russian rouble. Each account keeps its own currency, and the total balance and reports can be shown in the currency you choose at the current rate.
Can I share a budget with my family?
Yes. Invite someone close to a family ledger: you get shared accounts and transactions, and each of you keeps your own account and settings. Every transaction shows who added it.
How do I install the app on my phone?
On Android, download the app with the “Download for Android” button on the website and allow the installation. On iPhone, open the site in Safari, tap Share and choose “Add to Home Screen” — the site will open like an app.
Does the app work offline?
You can record transactions without a connection: they are saved on the device and sent to your account when you are back online. Signing in and syncing between devices need the internet.
What are limits and how do they work?
A limit is how much you are willing to spend on a category in a month, for example cafés. The app shows how much is already spent and warns you as you approach or exceed the limit.
How is my account protected?
Sign in with email and password, with Google or with a passkey (fingerprint, Face ID). You can turn on two-step verification with an authenticator app and lock the app on your device.
How do I delete my account and data?
You can delete your account in your profile: all your data is deleted with it. Before that you can export your transactions to a spreadsheet or download a report.
How do I contact support?
After signing in, open “Support” in your profile and describe your question or the problem — the reply comes there, and to your phone if notifications are on.
